The work of Herb Ritts (1952-2002) is characterized by clean lines and strong forms. He was born in Los Angeles, entered the world of photography in the late 1970’s, and rapidly earned a reputation in artistic and commercial photography. His portfolio counts many acclaimed portraits and editorial fashion shots for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Interview, and Rolling Stone, as well as advertising campaigns for giants such as Calvin Klein, Gianni Versace, Chanel, and Polo Ralph Lauren. He succeeded in capturing and creating both social history and fantasy, through his photography of noted individuals in film, fashion, music, politics and society. His fine art photography has been displayed internationally, and many of his works are now held in renowned public and private collections around the world.
